Nitrogen+Syngas, Jul-Aug 2010

ns-jul-aug-2010-cover-200"In modern urea plants, the main pollution to the environment originates from the prilling or granulation finishing section. In recent years there has been a growing interest in technologies to reduce the urea dust and gaseous ammonia emissions from prilling towers and granulation unit. Wet processes are generally applied. The available technologies vary with regards to the scrubber design, type of demisters and the gas moisturising/spraying system.

Nitrogen+Syngas, Mar-Apr 2010, Conference Report

ns-mar-apr-2010-cover-200"The Nitrogen+Syngas 2010 conference returned to the Gulf Hotel in Bahrain this year, to be once again hosted by Gulf Petrochemical Industries (GPIC).

More environmental issues were considered by Maria Skorupka of PROZAP Engineering. She concluded that ammonium sulphate wet flue gas desulphurisation technology can be an economically attractive alternative to conventional limestone-based scrubbing at selected plant sites. Not only can the AS be sold to defray fuel costs and capital costs and the reduced liability of handling and disposing of solid and liquid wastes."
